Weekly Changes

Our family is experiencing a time of transition. It's hard work. It is easier--in a way--to stay the same, or worse, pretend change has no effect upon us and again stay the same. We can't. We have plotted a course and while overwhelming, we are taking it one week at a time towards healthier living. It started with making home made cleaning supplies on week, home made beauty supplies a second week and now we are focusing on eliminating white foods from our diet.

Many resources have provided education and inspiration...

Week One:

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a Spirit of power. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Where I found most of my cleaner recipes, fantastic info on essential oils, etc. Twin B (our collaborator) may have had seizures (she does have diagnosis of epilepsy the past six years) due to cleaning with bleach & windex (different days and locations, same sad results for her) and we needed something safer.
I ordered Sue's ebook and read through in one night! This system is great! I revamped our homeschool system and two out of my three currently love their workboxes.

Week Two:

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything; you may have an abundance for every good deed; (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Where I found deodorant recipe, toothpaste recipe and much more! Can't wait to spend more time reading her site regarding healthy eating!

Week Three (and four):

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We will always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesusmay also be revealed in our body. (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)

This information, these books, are amazing to me as they explain some of the challenges our family faces. At first I thought our son (our communicator) merely had behavioral issues and that his carb craving was just him being a kid. At age 3 he started downing toothpaste and our pediatrician ordered so many tests that during his blood draw two of his veins collapsed. The results? Normal. Really? Yup. So, we were encouraged to put behavioral modifications to work. Fast forward eight years and now we have faced a boy who can not sleep well and is active at night, yet lethargic in the morning, impulsive at times, well focused at others. Inspired by my aunt's journey to low/no sugar, I began researching children and sugar. We already know to beware dyes, preservatives, dairy, etc with him, yet now I am learning it goes far beyond that. We are changing our whole way of eating, including using whey power in shakes and baking and going to an Amish farm for raw milk.

On week five, I am discovering more, confirming what I currently know and am grateful for the opportunity to serve my family in this unique capacity. However, I'm still selfish! This blog is for me; to chronicle our ups and downs, a catalog of what's and when's and possibly why's in our lives. Each week I want to add more, Lord willing, to our journey towards health and healing.

Ps. remind me not to go overboard....goat's milk is icky creamer compared to caramel creamer!
